Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about Brookside Dental Care or dentistry in general? If so, then you’ve come to the right place! Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive every day. If you have a question that hasn’t been answered here, be sure to give us a call and ask! We’re always happy to talk to you and make sure you understand all of your dental options.

Why do I need check-ups & professional cleanings if I brush my teeth every day?

While consistent brushing and flossing are essential to your long-term oral health, the truth of the matter is that they aren’t able to clean every single surface of your mouth, leaving small areas that are vulnerable to developing cavities or an infection. Some people are prone to develop hard tartar deposits on their teeth. These deposits cannot be removed by brushing and flossing alone. A professional cleaning can easily target these trouble spots to keep your smile fully protected. And with a dental checkup, Dr. Griffith has the chance to catch and treat small dental issues before they can become bigger headaches later.

How often should I get checkups & cleanings?

Dr. Griffith recommends that everyone should have at least two checkups and professional cleanings every year, or one every 6 months. Along with a diligent oral hygiene routine at home, this is the most effective and conservative way to prevent tooth decay, cavities, gum disease, and many other common dental problems year after year.

I think I might have a cavity. What should I do?

If you’re experiencing a minor toothache or notice a dark spot on one of your teeth, your next call should be to Brookside Dental Care. We’ll be able to repair the cavity in just one visit using either a tooth-colored filling or CEREC dental crown to protect your smile from further damage and help it look and feel its best again.

How long does it take to repair a damaged tooth?

This answer is different from patient to patient depending on their specific situation, but in most cases, we’re able to repair broken and decayed teeth in just one visit using fillings or crowns. Thanks to our CEREC technology, we’re able to design, create, and place a completely custom-made dental crown in just one well-planned visit.

Do you accept emergency patients?

Yes! If you’re dealing with a dental injury, knocked-out tooth or severe toothache, give us a call, and we’ll work to see you as quickly as possible so we can provide the relief you need. We’re often able to treat emergency patients the same day that they call.

How should I replace my missing teeth?

For most patients who are interested in closing the gaps in their smile, Dr. Griffith would highly recommend dental implants. Compared to any other replacement, implants are the most natural-looking, reliable, and durable option, able to last for 30 years or more with the proper maintenance. They can be used to replace any number of teeth as well. To learn more about this treatment and if it would be right for you, you can schedule a FREE implant consultation with Dr. Griffith.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

Brookside Dental Care is happy to accept many dental insurance plans from a long list of providers. We even make the process of using your benefits easy by handling the claims on your behalf. To learn how we can use your particular plan to help you save at your next appointment, contact us today.
